Employment with a Sydney Couturier as a hand finisher & beader offered the chance to see my ‘work’ published in the Women’s’ Weekly magazine, however, I decided to attend TAFE College with the intent of teaching my love of clothing creation. A chance encounter whilst buying a new family sewing machine saw me heading down a different avenue. Employed for many years by Bernina & Elna Sewing Machine companies I was involved in both after sales teaching as well as promotional fashion parades where our company would combine with commercial pattern makers & fabric designers to showcase our garments with parades in the major department stores of Sydney.
My ambition to give the best results possible, taking into account all aspects such as look, fit, wearability & of course cost are high on my agenda. This leads to the current area in which I find myself – Wedding/Bridal and all that goes with it....
The Wedding Day...I love being a part, be it a small one, of this very special day in peoples’ lives. The buzz of happiness is very catching & uplifting which is why I developed my most recent package called “The Lady in Waiting”. This service is included with my full creations though available to all at affordable prices.
I am in attendance for three to four hours prior to the ceremony, where I press, primp & pamper doing all the necessary fiddley bits which arise as the bridal preparations proceed. Many do not realise how stressful a time this can be & having an independent person attending to anything & everything can be a relief to all, especially with the modern family dynamics. My services include assisting to dress the bride from head to toe, arranging/ gathering articles of jewellery, clothes, shoes for all the party, even smaller members to relieve the need of their mother’s attention. I can take delivery of flowers, pin corsages & buttonholes as well as doing men’s’ ties, handkerchiefs and more.
So finally the time of departure, where I can assist the bride into her car & even tidy up the accommodation removing rubbish or laying out those little ‘special’ something’s for later on...........
Emergency call outs are also a feature of my work, when that zipper won’t zip or a hem has fallen, whatever happens there is usually something which can be done to remedy the situation & not delay the events of the day...
